Creating My First Blog

Prior to today, January seventh, I was a blog virgin. Of course I had read other peoples' blogs, but never had I actually created my very own. I was a little unsure of the process at first, but Professor Leake showed us how to use Blogger.com in class. Deciding a name for my blog address was the most difficult part of the blog creation process. I wanted an address name I could remember easily and a name that did not resemble a cheesy middle school email address. (I think back to my aol instant messenger with the name "lalalaloveitchick94"). I settled for hanszabo only after discovering hszabo and hannahszabo were already taken. This was a little disappointing, but I survived. Surprising to me was the fact that creating this blog took practically no effort. I expected a maze of log-ins, profile editing, and information entering. Luckily I encountered no such mazes. The only part that I can see getting marginally tricky would be if and when I decide to doodle around with the settings. I am thinking about changing my blog layout to make it more aesthetically appealing. The ease with which I created my blog made me realize anyone can start a blog if they really want. I thought only fancy, important, big-wig names created blogs. Clearly, this is not the case. Just as anyone can create a Facebook page, anyone can create a blog. Both Facebook and blogging are ways for people to share information about their lives via the internet. While Facebook connects people to one another on a more social level, blogging connects people on a more literal level. Blogging requires a fair amount of writing, specifically writing pertaining to humanistic thoughts, tendencies, and opinions. It allows people to catch a glance into others' lives and personal experiences. These experiences can be political, cultural, recreational, or intellectual.
